Use of Cloud Services

I have run across a hardware/software system that facilitates continuous uptime, in essence supporting processor, memory and disk storage maintenance and upgrades while the system is running. My brother, who has never used the cloud, has the impression that that level of service is offered by cloud ...

Re: FTP

There are some unique characteristics of the current FTP setup. http://ftp.brulescorp.com forwards to the full FTP site in a browser. However just typing ftp.brulescorp.com into a Windows file explorer ends up pointing at a separate abbreviated FTP site with a copy of the latest unofficial BR and a ...

Re: FTP

In theory ftp.brulescorp.com is forwarding to brulescorp.asuscomm.com which forwards to my current FTP IP. I'm just waiting for a week or so to see if everything continues working. If so, then we shouldn't see nay more service interruptions. Except, in a couple of weeks, I will be moving my servers ...

Re: FTP

There is a way to bypass these interruptions. Our router supports dynamic IPs. One reason I didn't know there was a problem is because I use brulescorp.asuscomm.com which is automatically updated by the router. So when you want to access the FTP site you can specify FTP://brulescorp.asuscomm.com and...

Re: FTP

The FTP site has been inaccessible for a few days. The IP has changed and I wasn't aware of it. The FTP.BRULESCORP.COM domain name has been updated and it may take several hours (up to 24 hours)to propagate through the Internet. Meanwhile the FTP site can be reached directly at FTP://24.192.171.137.

Re: Is the Wiki Down?

Greetings everyone. The wiki and forum are back up. The problem I encountered was that I had purchased an extra 30G of storage space a few years back for some projects, and now we no longer needed it. The bluehost control panel for our virtual private server would not let me renew without that drive...

Re: BREAK Command Features

It sounds like BREAK FILE nnn would be used quite a bit.

Good suggestion. I'll put it on the 4.4 list.

4.3 is in "bug fix only" status.

Re: BREAK Command Features

The idea in calling a custom function is to allow one program snippet to check for any number of conditions. Defining a debug function would not affect normal processing because normally the BREAK IF command would not be issued. I thought about issuing a temporary, immediate statement that would be ...

Re: BREAK Command Features

Gabriel.. I'm sure you realize that some of your challenges are not experienced by the majority of BR users. Most of us do not have to deal with someone else's spaghetti code. On the other hand I have a feature in mind that would solve your problem, along with many others. I didn't want to pre-annou...

BREAK Command Features

A few items I have not been aware of that ease debugging are: * The BREAK command can name a user defined function instead of a label or line number. This will cause the program to enter step mode when the function is entered. * Break line references can refer to clause numbers as well. e.g. BREAK l...

Re: web services

In this case your intent is to access web services. This can be done with HTTP client. My earlier posting was concerning the provision of web services. For that you would need to use the BR Web Server. You can do both in a single application but the 2 are not the same and they don't overlap in any m...

Re: web services

The most popular underlying protocol for supporting Web Service communication is HTTP. Please note we are not speaking of HTML. HTTP is a stateless (each transaction stands on its own) protocol for managing the transfer of data. Typically the protocol that underlies HTTP is TCP. TCP handles the reli...

Re: superfetch

Another Win 10 background process imposed by default is called Telemetry by Windows. It is essentially data gathering on everything you do under Windows. I found it to be consuming an inordinate amount of CPU and disk processing on my Win 10. Here is a procedure for disabling it: https://winaero.com...
