CREATE AN EXCEL FILE DIRECTLY FROM A PROGRAM

Post by cdidan »

I have always created a delimited text file and then opened it in excel to create an excel file.
Is it possible to create an excel file directly from a program?
If it is possible how do you do it?

Not an native Excel file, but there are a couple of ways to achieve the same result. Louis uses HTML to create Excel spreadsheets, you can also use Excel XML formats: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_ ... ML_formats

If you use the .xls extension on your file, it will launch to into Excel automatically, though it will yell at you for a different format that it was expecting (Louis has posted the registry entries to suppress that message somewhere)
