Thank you!

I send deep and sincere thanks to all of you who came to the BRG Conference in San Antonio, and SPECIAL thanks to those who went over and above to share your talent and skills with the rest of us with your presentations, Nifty Neatos, helping others one-on-one and even setting up equipment in the room. In addition to the wonderful "scheduled" presentations, I always receive so much more insight, inspiration and information in the course of the casual time than I expect to! This conference was no exception. I came to the conference tired and depleted, and I came home excited, rejuvenated, encouraged and inspired. How I love that! I hope you did too! (Feel free to tell what things you enjoyed the most!)

I even enjoyed the extra (unexpected) adventure of watching the "flood waters" rise on the river just a few yards away through our conference room glass doors on Thursday. I don't think we have ever had that much rain during a conference, but luckily Mother Nature showed us her grace by confining most of the rain to the hours when we were inside, preserving our ability to set ourselves loose on the city the rest of the time! I'm also grateful for the "right on it" San Antonio people who opened the check dam and drained the river before it got our feet wet in the conference room. Mercy, the lady who kept us in tea, coffee and goodies all day told me that that there are huge walls that can be raised at the sides of the river just outside the hotel if the rain comes down faster than they can drain the river!! For those of who haven't been to the Drury Plaza Hotel in San Antonio, the basement, where our conference room was, is slightly BELOW river level and we were just steps from the river! The building was built in 1929 and was formerly the historic Alamo Bank building. It is GORGEOUS and they have left much of the original decor for guests to enjoy. Check it out if you are ever in the Riverwalk area. I hope we go back there again for a conference. We were there in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Maybe 2018 is in the cards? What do you think? :)

Anyway...I just wanted to express my appreciation to you wonderful people who come to the conferences year after year and bring your energy, enthusiasm, friendship and knowledge, and to those who take the time during their busy schedules to prepare presentations, develop materials to share with the group, and teach us interesting and helpful concepts...many of which are things that we didn't know we didn't know! As future BR developments, input from members and many other factors may change the format of conferences, or the way that we do things as time goes on, I hope that we can always come back to renew friendships, build new ones, and share the wealth of our experience with each other. This conference felt like a homecoming of sorts...to a PLACE that I knew and to PEOPLE who I have missed. Thank you all!
