DIR command truncates long file names

In BR when you redirect the output of the DIR command to a file, file names longer than 30 characters get truncated. Is there a workaround for this?
I am working with a large set of files with all kinds of very long names (30 to 50 characters on average), and need to be able to read these names in BR via DIR command, or some other method...
