[BR_forum] MyEditBR Training

Post by rmills »

Hi,

There was some discussion before the Spring conference about my possibly
running some MyEditBR training.

I'm looking to see how many people are interested in participating in
this. So what I would like is for people to respond either to the forum
or to my email address letting me know if your interested in getting
MyEditBR specific training.

If you respond, please also try to mention in what areas of the editor you
would like to see more information.

MyEditBR is a very large program with lots of features. I've sure there
are areas and features of the application you might not even know existed
so if you can't think of anything that's fine.

All I'm looking for is numbers at the moment.

Thanks,

Ryan.

I would love to participate.

While I use MyEdit extensively, I really don't know how to use the advanced features, a "Practical Session" developing some code and the features used would be helpful.

I think that using the Debugger is also something that would be helpful. "Tips and Tricks" on how to use the debugger.

You do support "Regular Expressions", but I have no clue how to use them. I know you have RegexHelper. It would be great to have a session on using regular expressions. I suppose that searching is the overall topic.

The Selection Mode is a bit confusing, it would be nice to understand the purpose of each of the modes.

I'm in. I barely use MyEditBR! with the exception of 1156 error resolution.
I'm probably unaware of most of the product.

Hi Ryan,

I'd be interested, depending upon when or how you decide to set it up. Are you thinking of a GotoMeeting type of thing online? If so, I'm definitely in for that. Traveling isn't all that likely for me right now.

As for the training I don't expect anyone, let alone myself, to fork out

I'll announce something soon for everyone interested.

Noted.

I don't see why not. The initial idea for the training was to get the
most out of the editor itself. From there we can probably answer some
more in-depth questions or problems that people are having. Maybe the
advanced BR techniques should be a second session?

I've been adding more features to the BR debugger so maybe that should be
a second session.

I should be included as well.
I use MyEditBR now instead of version 2, but we can't do "edit" from the command line because of the substitution to our program folder.
SUBSTITUTE MACPRG,mapp2MACPRG prevents MyEditBr from firing from within BR.

We just save to source and load the wbs, brs manually for now.

[BR_forum] MyEditBR Training

Post by George Tisdale »

I’d like in also. My concern is that I have a short attention span and would ask for limited duration and perhaps multiple segments of increasing complexity.

At this point I have 7 confirmed, with a possible additional 1 (David are
you still wanting some training?)

As for the training I don't expect anyone, let alone myself, to fork out
money to travel for this. So, yes, I'm looking to use a webinar type of
training solution.

I'll announce something soon for everyone interested.

Thanks,
Ryan.

I'd like to attend.

I was very impressed by MyEditBR at the conference when it was
demonstrated.

However, after coming back to Dallas, as I remember, I couldn't get
certain
things to work, so I stopped using it.

I'd like to get back to using it though.

Ryan, are you talking Webinar?

Hi Ryan,

I'd be interested, depending upon when or how you decide to set it up.
Are
you thinking of a GotoMeeting type of thing online? If so, I'm
definitely in
for that. Traveling isn't all that likely for me right now.

Hi,

There was some discussion before the Spring conference about my
possibly

running some MyEditBR training.

I'm looking to see how many people are interested in participating in

this. So what I would like is for people to respond either to the
forum

or to my email address letting me know if your interested in getting

MyEditBR specific training.

If you respond, please also try to mention in what areas of the editor
you

would like to see more information.

MyEditBR is a very large program with lots of features. I've sure
there

are areas and features of the application you might not even know
existed

so if you can't think of anything that's fine.

All I'm looking for is numbers at the moment.

Thanks,

Ryan.

[BR_forum] MyEditBR Training

Post by Larry »

I like George’s approach.

I have sat through the grid/list sessions and learned more each time. Until one sits down and start to implement, the lessons don’t really take hold.

Although I am using grids for data input, it is at the more rudimentary level. I am excited about what can be done, and I appreciate everyone’s patience at helping me implement the latest items.

I think the same approach for MyEditBr would be very beneficial.

I'll be attending too. I consider myself to be in the amateur category with respect to MyEditBR.

I prefer more than one session of progressive sophistication as well.

Thanks.
