Duplexing - printer.sys - NWP

Post by Susan Smith »

Hi all,

Can I duplex with printer.sys in NWP (not PCL)? The copy of printer.sys that I have doesn't support duplexing in NWP, but I wonder if anyone out there is doing this?

I have now added the following statements to the PRINTER.SYS on the FTP site. I also updated the Native Windows Printing document.

PRINTER NWP [SIMPLEX], "\E&l0S"
PRINTER NWP [DUPLEX], "\E&l1S"
PRINTER NWP [DUPLEX SHORTEDGE], "\E&l2S"

These changes were provided by and checked out by Steve in March 2009 on 4.20.

Thanks for calling this to my attention Susan.

Thanks Gordon. Duplexing now works beautifully in NWP.

I spoke too soon. I am having an issue with duplexing in NWP after all in that it seems to flip on the shortedge whether you use [DUPLEX] or [DUPLEX SHORTEDGE]. The [DUPLEX] command for PCL appears to work fine - it flips on the long (top) edge. It's only the NWP version that is broken.

I have tried it in BR 4.20g and BR 4.20ja with the same results

With respect to problems where NWP is not performing to spec, we ask people to submit a PRINTDIR file that produces the failure.

PRINTDIR is a BRconfig.sys statement that tells BR where to make a copy of data streams that are sent to the printer.
