[BR_forum] Fwd: Delphi .Net components

Post by gordon.dye at ads.net »

I apologize for my statement that we can use any Delphi control directly in BR. It turns out that the Delphi development community is rewriting many of their controls in C# to make them available to the dot net community.

Apparently there is no such thing as a Delphi dot net component.

It doesn't look like Delphi is capable of creating .Net class libraries (ie. components). It seems that while Delphi can use any .Net component, they never gave the ability to create components for use in anything but Delphi. Ryan is still investigating, but it doesn't look promising. All the Delphi component makers have converted their stuff to C# for .Net implementations. Sorry, but it looks like the Delphi route is a dead end, we will have to stick to VB and C#.

Gordon if you would focus on Telerik Controls in your proof of concept or even just making use of them alone in the short term everyone’s UI needs would be met.
