they both do in various ways.  the easiest of which is probably nwp and a bar code font.

a couple of years ago. They use FNPRINTBOX which is compatible with
both PCL and NWP/PDF.

I will look for the reference. However, I need UPC and one other. I found a
font on the web (and even some already in the font list!) and it worked with
the [FONT] 'Fontname' capability!!!

[BR_forum] Bar Codes

Post by GomezL »

It seems that “Fonts” are the trick for many bar codes:

http://www.barcode-1.net/fonts.html

2D Barcodes are a little more complex. If you are going to use the Same 2D Code every time try the following page:

http://www.idautomation.com/java/dmservlet.html This page will generate a JPG image that you may use as a picture in your print stream.

It’s quite a bit more complex to create your own.

[BR_forum] Bar Codes

Post by Christopher Shields »

At ADS, we use ZPL. These are escape codes understood by Zebra barcode
printers. It works like PCL. These printers are designed for high
volume printing for things like shipping docks and assembly lines.

[BR_forum] Bar Codes

Post by Larry »

Thanks for the help. We do have a bar code / label printer that works just
fine - it has a language all its own.

I did find the IDAutomation site and I am using their codes. THe neat piece
is that BR seems to work with any font that I can install in windows.

[BR_forum] Bar Codes

Post by Rickie Graham »

Using “fonts” for barcodes works great. Just remember that most barcodes have a check-digit at the end which you will have to calculate and add to the data you are printing.

Make sure that you scan some of the barcodes before you put the code into production.

Larry- When you say that BR works with any installed font, that tells me you are using NWP. Is that correct?
